I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere,
Along with my traditional psychotherapy services, I am committed to helping separating and divorcing clients reach sensible agreements about living separate lives through mediation, collaborative divorce, developing an agreeable parenting plan, and conflict resolution. I also do Social Investigations, Custoy Evaluations and Provide Parenting Coordination Services for those needing more intensive (court ordered) conflict resolution.
Mediation*. As a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, I create a safe, respectful, neutral environment that allows clients to speak freely and feel understood with compassion so that they can craft a sensible agreement cost-effectively that will works for both of them—and especially the children. Once your case is mediated, you will be given a "Memorandum of Understanding" that you can submit to the courts to file for your "uncontested" divorce in Florida. Or if you choose, you may take this to your attorney for review, and to draft into an Aggreement. For many, this is a less threatening, less stressful, alternative to a costly divorce that is tied up in letigation. (Fee for service $175.00 per hour).
Reunification Therapy*. Reunification therapy is a term used by the Family Law Courts when one parent is estranged from the child or children and it is the desire of the court to improve their relationship. Some of the reasons for reunification therapy include: one of the parents has been absent from the child's life due to drug or alcohol abuse, child abuse, incarceration, personal choice or alienation by the other parent.
In most cases, I will decide whether to see the child first, the parent or parents first or which configuration would be most beneficial. The cost for each 50 minute session is $125 and must be paid by cash or money order. This does not include communication with attorneys and/or review of documents. Unless it is specified by the Court otherwise, the cost is split evenly between the parents. Duration and frequency vary depending on the motivation and cooperation of the parties involved and the judgment of the therapist. A deposit of $500.00 (five hundred dollars) is required before therapy begins. In most cases a report is requested about the sessions and the parents waive confidentiality. The cost of the report is prorated depending on the amount of time required. The fee for the report including faxing/mailing to Judge, attorneys and parents is billed at $125.00 per hour. Payment for report is required 10 days before the court hearing. Once the report is written, there is no refund.
Child Specialist*. As a child specialist and former Adjunct Professor in Psychology, I guide separating parents in communicating and co-parenting more effectively in order to protect the children from the emotional impact of the transition. Because of my background in child specific therapies, I am well equipped to help parents devise a sensible parenting plan that is tailored to the developmental and special needs of the children.
Adoption Home Studies*. As a LCSW in the State of FL, I provide private home studies. A home study is required for every adoption, whether it is an international or a domestic adoption. This study is a basic overview of your life - including criminal background checks, your finances and even your personal relationships. It is used by the courts to assess if a stable environment exists for a family to recieve an adoptive placement. (Flat rate fee of $1,500 - travel fee may be imposed for those living w/n 30 miles from my office.
Custody Evaluator*: Child custody issues during a divorce can become very complicated. Both parents attempt to magnify their virtues and minimize their faults. Sometimes the custody dispute becomes very intense and leads to anger. The court may need an expert’s help in determining the child custody arrangements. As a Custody Evaluator, I am able to help determine what is in the best interest of the child by performing a complete examination of all the parties involved in the custody dispute, interviewing both parents and the child, as well as, assessing the interaction between the child and the parents (and possibily conducting psychological testing), I am able to come up with a fair and impartial custudy arrangement reccomendation for the court. (Flate rate fee of $2,500 plus travel may be imposed for those living outside of 30 miles from my office).
Social Investigator*: As a Social Investigator I will draft a proposed parenting plan for the court’s consideration that addresses the parents' decision-making authority, schedules for timesharing, and any other parental issues unique to the family. This report will be generated after multiple visits to all partries involved in the children's lives (school, therapist, grandparents, day-care etc.), as well as, visits/interviews with the children. (Flate rate fee of $2,500 plus trave may be imposed for those living outside of 30 miles of my office).
Parenting Coordinator*: Parenting Coordination is an alternative dispute resolution method used to assist divorced or divorcing parents in following a parenting plan, improving communication, resolving disagreements, and reducing conflict. In parenting coordination, like mediation, parents often have a choice and influence in altering the course of their lives and their children’s lives, rather than risking the family’s future course to a Judge who is often making decisions without sufficient information or time to fully understand the dynamics of the case. ($125.00 per hour).
